Purdue 38 - Michigan 36
Michigan Stadium
November 7, 2009 - 12 noon
Game Summary
Michigan had the game comfortably in its control, leading 24-10 and then 30-17. But a fumble deep in Michigan territory and then a perfectly executed on-side kick stole the lead from the Wolverines. A valiant comeback was halted when Michigan was unable to convert on a two-point conversion. A missed extra point and a missed field goal contributed but were not the cause of the loss. The defense was simply unable to stop a determined Purdue team in the second half.
There were some bright spots. Brandon Minor played perhaps his best game of the year with 154 yards on 19 carries and three touchdowns. Roy Roundtree had 10 receptions (including one where he stole an interception away from a Purdue defender) for 126 yards and a score. But that’s about it.
The loss was especially disappointing given the bowl implications. Michigan now must win one of its two remaining games to become bowl-eligible. The task is tough at Wisconsin or against the Big Ten leading Buckeyes.
